I. Objectives:

1. Educational aim:

 - Students can pronounce 2 sounds /s/ - /z/ and understand how to use “to+ infinitive” correctly.

2. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Distinguish the sounds /s/ - /z/.

- Use To-infinitive to express purposes and make Wh-questions appropriately.

3. Skills: Develop reading, speaking, listening, writing skills.

II. Method: Integrated, mainly communicative

III. Teaching aids: Student’s book and pictures , video, etc.

Time: 45 minutes
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aim:
 - Students can pronounce 2 sounds /s/ - /z/ and understand how to use “to+ infinitive” correctly.
2. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Distinguish the sounds /s/ - /z/.
- Use To-infinitive to express purposes and make Wh-questions appropriately.
3. Skills: Develop reading, speaking, listening, writing skills.

IV. Procedure:

Homework checking: (3 minutes)
- Ask Ss to work and rearrange the words/phrases to make meaningful sentences to talk about Van Cao.
- Give Ss 3 minutes to do.
- Call for answers, then give correction.
I. Pronunciation (7 minutes)
- Ask students to look at their books then introduce to them

- Introduce : /s/ - /z/
- Distinguish the differences among 2 sounds.
/s/: voiceless sound
/z/: voiced sound
- Model to make students know how to pronounce
- Read loudly then ask students to repeat
- Call some Ss to stand up and read aloud the words.
- Give feedbacks.
* Checking:
- Give the exercises and ask students to put answers in proper column
- Give feedbacks
* Practise these sentences
- Read the sentences loudly
- Ask students to repeat
- Correct pronunciation for students
II. GRAMMAR (29 minutes)
* To + infinitive to express purposes (6 minutes)
- Write some example on the board and underline the “to+infinitive”.
* Example:
A: What do you use a dictionary for?
B: I use a dictionary to find the meaning of new words.
A: What do they do morning exercise for?
B: They do morning exercise to have good health. 
- Ask students to comment on the use of “to+ infinitive” in these examples.
- Elicit the use of “to+ infinitive”: to express purposes.
- Ask some students give some similar examples.
Exercise 1: (5 minutes)
- Let students work in pairs.
- Guide students how to do Ex1
- Ask students to do Exercise 1.
- Walk round to provide help.
- Ask them to go to the board and write down the answers.
- Give feedback.
- Check and correct mistakes.
Exercise 2: ( 5 minutes)
- Introduce Exercise 2 to students and explain how to do it
- Ask students to do it.
- Let them work individually.
- Check, correct mistakes.
* Wh – Questions: (5 minutes)
- Give some questions and ask students to answer questions:
* Example:
1. What is this? 
àThis is a dictionary. 
2. How many people are there?
àThere are three people. 
3. Who teaches you Maths?
àMr Hoa teaches us Maths. 
- Elicit the form and the use of “Wh-questions”.

Exercise 3 ( 8 minutes)
- Ask students to work individually.
- Ask students to do exercise 3 in the textbook.
- Walk round and help them.
- Ask Ss to go to the board and write down the answers.
- Give feedback.
III. CONSOLIADATION :(4 minutes)
- Ask Ss answer some questions to review knowledge of the lesson
- Give feedbacks
IV. HOMEWORK: (2 minutes)
- Ask students to review the lesson at home.
- Ask students to prepare Unit 13 : A. Reading
- Listen and do the task.
- Open the books
- Repeat the words in chorus then individual.
- Do the exercise individually
- Give answer
- Practise sentences in chorus then individual.
- Listen to the teacher
- Write down on their notebooks
- Give some examples
- Work in pairs and do exercises 1.
- Exchange their answers for peer correction.
