I. AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON

1. Knowledge

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- To help learners get started with some language items in Unit 9.

- For vocabulary, they will get words and phrases related to the topic “preserving the environment”.

- For pronunciation, they will practice stress in three-syllable nouns.

2. Skills

- In Speaking: they’ll talk about consequences of polluted environment; about WWF and solutions to the environment pollution.

+ Students will pronounce those sounds correctly. They’ll also be able to use reported speech in context.

+ They’ll finish the given exercises, and consolidate and enrich their vocabulary and structures.

3. Qualities

- For weaker students,

- The lesson helps students get started with the topic “preserving the environment”

- The unit aims at building students’ awareness of helping one another in a community.

II. TEACHING AIDS

- Teacher: laptop, board, chalk, textbook

- Students: textbook, workbook, pen, pencil

SKILLS - SPEAKING – Environmental impacts of human activities
I. AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON 
1. Knowledge
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

WARM UP
a. Aim: Visualize what the topic is and supply the background knowledge
b. Content: finish the task and presentation
c. Outcome: Suggestions
Label the photos with the types of pollution by game “digging gold”.

Activity 2. Watch video, read the text again and do task 2
- Pair work

- Divide class into 3 groups, play games and get points.
- Ask students to watch video, read the reading text again and do task 2 
2. Activity 2
PRESENTATION
a. Aim: elicit new words, supply structures and grammatical knowledge 
b. Content: finish the task and presentation 
c. Outcome: Expected answers
Work in pairs. Each pair will talk about what the impact of environment is.
- Pair work, showing their (dis)agreement expressions and point out their explanation.
Pair work - practice the model.
Student A: We are facing severe environmental pollution despite the fact that many organizations are working hard to reduce it.
Student B: Well, it is a result of human activities in modern times. For example, air pollution is a consequence of fossil fuel burning by motor vehicles, factories, aircraft and rockets.
Student A: You're right. It leads to a series of environmental problems such as acid rain, greenhouse effect, global warming, and health problems.
Student B: Well, if this goes on, the earth may soon become a dangerous place to live on. Therefore, we must do something before it is too late.
d. Organization
- Ask students to work with a partner from other group. Share their opinions.
- Supply them with some vocabulary they need.
- Get two or three representatives from different groups to go to the board and give their presentations.
- Ask the rest to listen to the representatives and take notes.

c. Outcome: Act out the conversation.

IV. Consolidation (1 min)
