I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Discussion the opinions on using electronic devices in class.
- Make a conversation about how children use mobile phone or electronic devices in local area.
- To raise students’ awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of electronic devices
- Speak and express your opinions about the effects of personal electronic devices.
- Talk about how US children learn with these devices.
II. Teaching materials: Laptop, LCD projector, textbook, board, pictures. projector and powerpoint.

What are disadvantages when using them in class? Lead-in: Today, we will learn a lesson that related to this topic in Unit 8: New ways to learn – Electronic devices in class – to use or not to use? *Vocabulary - concentrate on /`kɒnsntreɪt/ (V): to give all your attention to something and not think about anything else. - permanent /`pɜ:mənənt/ (a): ≠ temporary /`temprəri/ (a): - radiation /reɪdi`eɪʃn/ (n): - harm /hɑ:m/ (v) COMMUNICATION Electronic devices in class – to use or not to use? *Activity 1: Read the following comments on personal electronic devices. Match ideas with reasons accordingly. Tell your partner. Statements Reason why 1. The smartphone make you pay more attention and distract you from your studies a. Personal electronic devices can be very distracting, to you and to others. You may not be able to concentrate on your studies. If your smartphone rings in class, it will be very annoying and disruptive. 2. Electronic is not good for health, especially the eyes. b. Electronics are bad for your eyes, and radiation from electronics could harm your body and cause permanent damage. 3. Electronic devices cost a lot of money c. Not all students are able to buy personal electronics. They may feel sad and bad about themselves. This might aff ect their performance at school. *Answer key: B 2. C 3. A *Activity 2. Work in pairs. Exchange your opinions on using electronic devices in class. Refer to the comments in. if necessary. *Activity 3. Work in groups. Do you have a different opinion? Tell your group members. *Answer keys: We need to take rest after using electronic devices for hours. We can wink or put the eye drop into our eyes. We also ensure enough light when using the devices. CULTURE US children learning with electronic devices *Activity 1: Read the text on how electronic devices are used in children in the United States and fill in the blanks. 1. V.Homework *Using the ideas you have just said, rewrite them into a short paragraph of 120_150 words. - T lets ss watch video and asks ss try to remember some details in the video. T shows the questions on the poster. - Ss watch the video and Discuss the information in the video to answer the questions. - T calls some ss to answer the questions and gives feedback - T says “Today, we will learn about the new lesson in unit 8” -T leads in the lesson. - T leads to pre-teach new vocabulary. - T follows some steps of teaching new vocabulary. - T models the new words.( picture and explanation ). - SS listen the pronoun of the teacher. - SS read aloud new words chorally then individually. - T checks the stress of each word. - T lets SS read aloud all new words. - SS read aloud all new words. - Then, T checks vocabulary. -T runs through Activity 1. - T invites one student to read the requirement in Activity 1. - T explains the excercise - T gives some example’s answers. - Ss work in pairs in 3 minutes - T invites some pairs to stand up to do the Activity. - T checks the answers with whole class. - Ss copy down - Introduce some useful expressions for students to use. - Givea sentence as an example. - Ask students to give another example. - Ask students to practice in pair. - Let students to role-play. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class. T runs through Activity 3. - T invites one student to read the requirement of Activity 3. - T gives instruction and explains the activity. “Ok. Now we will work individual to tell with your friends about , in four minutes. Let’s start”. - Ss work in pairs in 4 minutes. -T invites 2 to 3 ss to present. -T checks the pronunciation with the whole class. -T gives feedback. -T leads in Activity 1. - T invites one student to read the requirement of Activity 1. - T gives instruction and explains the activity - T asks: “What will we do, class?”. - Ss answer. “Ok. Now we will work individual to read the following passage and fill in the blanks and then share the answers with your friends about , in four minutes. Let’s start”. -Ss work individual in four minutes. - T checks the answers by the game “ who’s faster”. - T divides class into 2 groups: A& B. - T explains the rule of the game: “Each member of each group who know the answer will take turn to go to the board and write down the answers.
